Visit to the coticule museum

We had a short vacation here in the Ardennes, and I took the opportunity to visit the coticule museum in Vielsalm. I didn't visit the quarry because I thought the museum was on-site (it wasn't) and because the wife and kids were with me.

I took a lot of pics. It was interesting to see the old process, and see the examples of how it was removed from the surrounding rock and turned into useable hones.

That last coticule is humongous. I think they only made it as a publicity stunt or such.

They sold bouts and rubbing stones. I think you need to go to the quarry for the rectangular hones.
