    Thickness-ing thingy

The C-clamp holds the attachment on, it is the path of least resistance I am going to continue using it. Pull or push are about the same, What I have found though is standing on milk crate gets me at a better height to do the push/pulling. It is very similar to the luthiers friend type...

    Thickness-ing thingy

I have a few razors in progress. Yes this is for billets. The tinkering is easier when there is some Canadian engineering involved. The 1/2 bolt holding the rectangular tubing to the square bar is surprisingly stiff. What wobble there is comes from the crappy hinge. I also wish the jacking...

    Thickness-ing thingy

Here is what have been toying with. Just a hinge and jack screw. I was worried about the top being surface being too thin but so far no problems. I have been running small billets back and forth underneath the wheel. I welded a thin long handle to the pull back and forth on. There is a bit of...

It was all 90 degree no overlap or angles. I think the process works out pretty good. The pieces are pinned in place with welds and have no place to go but to smoosh into each other. There is not a lot of shear during the process, the work is supported by the anvil. I suppose the hammer blows...

I think that is what it is, I am not sure of the terminology. I made the jelly roll then sliced it up into cubes, then stick welded mono steel on either edge with the cubes in the middle. I sealed all the seams with welding beads. Then shmooshed away. Victor got me thinking about different...

One of my first baby steps in trying new things with layered steels. Not exactly what I wanted but a good proof of concept to sink into my brain. This is post heat treat.

    sitting down

I have not noticed my back, maybe in time I will start to notice. The block works pretty well, but it could be a little taller. A pixie anvil stand?

    sitting down

The last few piddly things I forged I forged setting down. I think I watched to many Asian smithing videos. I would not want to do any heavy forging sitting down, but for fiddley small things, my butt on a milk crate is keeping happy for now.
