Fresh from the bench. A 7/8 razor in parqueted Damascus. The Damascus steel was made by Ed Schempp. It has my logo embedded as mosaic Damascus inside the body of the razor. So the logo goes through the blade from one side to the other. The scales are blue glow in the dark kirinite. The wedge is Old denim kirinite.

That bright strip near the edge is the strip that was protected from the etchant. If you look closely, you can see that thin black line at the very edge. That is the actual bevel.

Who would ever turn off the lights to see if the scales glow................................

That's a clever touch Bruno your logo going right through both sides, and I'm impressed with the tiny bevel I've got a thing about small even bevels:), I once owned a Ed Schempp designed knife.

How many hours would the scales hold a charge????

The blade is to pretty to turn the lights out on purpose.

They hold light significantly for several minutes. It fades gradually. If it is pitch dark you'll see it for a long time, but pretty faint.

Ed Schempp is a good friend of mine. We see each other once per year at the Gembloux knife show where we share a house for the weekend, together with various other blade makers. The first time I met that bunch, Mike Blue introduced me and had me pass around some razors, most notably that draco nobilis dragon design. After that I was just one of the guys. The first year, he gave me a block of Turkish twist Damascus as a trade for 2 razors I'd make from that block. Last year we discussed another billet and he made me a billet of this. Every time I need some of it, I just cut a slice from the side of the loaf, and hammer it flatter to make it longer and wider. I've made 3 razors with it so far. This is the 3d. A 4th one is in progress.

That loaf was the single most expensive thing I ever bought for this hobby. :)
Ed is a knife maker, many times cutting competition champion, and a designer for spyderco.

This is a beautiful razor Bruno. I really like the shape of the blade and your logo showing like it does is awesome.

Hobbiest surrounded by pro's.
That one is sure a beauty! I truly like the logo made into the steel, that's a whole other level of forge welding right there!

Can't take credit for that. My friend Ed did this.
It starts with a steel pipe, nickel plates, and 1095 powder. This is brought to welding temperature, and then put in a huge press with square dies to forge weld everything together, and then carefully drawn out.

The top one is a combination of 2 rune signs. Runes are letters, as well as symbols that convey concepts. The 2 I combined are special to me. and represent some of my core principles. The bottom one is the Lorraine cross. It represents the divine, and it was also the banner symbol of Jeanne D' Arc (Joan Of Arc) who is someone I look up to very much for many reasons.

I chose that combination of symbols for my makers mark because everything I make comes from those principles.

Show me that again!
YES! A beautiful razor Bruno. And I love how you have come up with the symbol for your logo. That is a very nice touch. Plus that bevel is so straight! and small! Love it!!!
