My understanding is that certain stones get their cutting action (or fineness )from the surface finish, and others more so the actual grit size. Is there any effect on the cutting action of a Thuri from the surface finish?
I did try my razor this morning (it was a Wilburt Cutlery that i had just honed and wasn't quite up to perfection) and i can say that there was no negative effects on the edge(which i was afraid of) but can't say it was any better either. Maybe another 20 strokes?
Another 20, shave test, another 20, shave test, repeat until you get what you want.

I am jealous.
On lapping and burnishing... Lapping can involve some rather coarse abrasive so especially on arkies you need to
worry the coarse grit wreckage away. The last stone to touch a razor is a very personal thing especially naturals.

Hone to a modern 12K and and then play with your finisher nice and light strokes.
