This one has the layers running horizontally instead of vertically
Combined with the fact that I hammered the hollows in, it creates some sort of 'doppler' effect wherethe layers are further and further apart, the closer they get to the edge.

When I do the scales for your razor, I could use this color purple to stabilize the spongy insides of the bone.

Hmmm...Red, White, Blue and Purple

Sounds like it might either be very cool or a bit much. I'll let you be the judge.

Let's see what the best options are when the scales are finished.

Don't know what I was thinking. The purple would be good in combination with a normal razor that had no color of its own.
Adding purple here would be too much. Much better to indeed go with the natural color scheme of the bone.

Bruno, seeing that this is a joint effort, I'd love to get your daughters involved.

When the time comes, maybe you could lay out all the appropriate liner materials you have along with the blade and scales. Then you could talk to them about the significance of the project, and let them collaborate and make the choice, (pending our approval)
I think this would be a great opportunity for a very meaningful lesson.
