Don't get complacent

I sharpended my edge today and realized that I was complacent with the old one.

It did an ok job but not as good as a refreshed one.

I hope that doesn't sound to silly.

My beard hair is so freaking wiry that I don't get many before i have to refresh the edge.
De blades don't last more than a few shaves either before they pull and give a nasty shave...

My biggest issue is when i test shave a spanish point or even worse when i switch out the blade from my feather. No matter how careful I am,the first shave with a new feather blade is a bloodbath

I can go a long time with just stropping. I have never actually counted. But it gradually degrades and needs to be taken back to the stones.

One of the things I do is I testshave every razor I ship. And if the point cuts me (because it has a microscopic burr) I drag the very point along in the stone of the sink in a 45 degree.

Apparently it's been so long since I honed a razor, I'm finding that it's a bit of a struggle when I finally have to. (I have a small rotation and trade off with my DEs etc.
