Hot sauce

We have one here named "Colon Cleaner". That's not the kind of image I like to have when I buy food haha. Still, the sauce is delicious. Though I prefer chipotle and various other smoked hot sauces.

For some reason this is drawing me in. I know it's silly but otoh if a man is goingvto have a vice, hot sauce is probably better than alcohol or smoking and other such things.

Holy fuck... The taste is actually great. Salty sweet with many layers of heat. This is going to be awesome on spaghetti! Much better than the bravado garlic reaper. And it didn't actually burn as bad as i feared.

Initially...

So i had a 2nd portion. And then the heat kicked in and kept getting worse. Still, all things considered i could handle it fairly well, given that this should be on par with da bomb beyond insanity.

It has passed. Right now my mouth feels like you'd feel after a hike in hot weather and you just enter an air conditioned room.

Also note to self: try not to burp.

I was going to make a comment but you beat me to it Vern. It's when you experience the next day that's the real test. There can be multiple places in the intestine that react to capsaicin.

Prickly heat powder gives considerable relief.

Not a topic for polite company I suppose, but for some reason, that particular problem is not one I have.
Human bodies are funny things. I can eat scorching hot food and it only burns on the way in. It does move my lower intestine into higher gear, but that's it. Also my stomach has absolutely no issue with large amounts of heat. I've even tried black coffee with hotsauce instead of cream (It was in Texas, and it was because men do stupid things just because :D ) no problem

But if I eat plain bell peppers in a dish with the skin still attached, I am going to be doubled over with horrible stomach pains and acid.

What did you think of "da bomb"? While not the hottest, that's the one guaranteed to get most folks reeling on Hot Ones. :)

I haven't tried it yet. I'm ordering a bottle just to have it as a frame of reference. I was told da bomb replaced this 357 sriracha and is about the same heat.

The same way da bomb stops people in their tracks to remark on how horrible it is, a couple of seasons of hot ones featured a Canadian (I don't think of us as major hot sauce producers, but there you go) pineapple habanero sauce that made people stop and say how good it was. Figured I'd support a local(ish) vendor and give their stuff a shot. I've tried three of them so far:
  • Jalepeno: mild, really tasty and super versatile. I've thrown it on everything from eggs to burritos to sandwiches
  • Pineapple habanero: I have to agree with the hot ones guests that it is really bloody good. Quite sweet as you'd expect from pineapple. A bit more heat than the jalepeno, but still totally fine for people not used to super hot sauces. Like me.
  • Blueberry habenero: my favourite so far. It's absolutely freakin' delicious. Again, not the hottest of sauces, but really, really tasty. Really nice on salad, fantastic on a nice piece of cheese.
The red habanero is next up...

Good stuff. Not real hot, but very tasty.

I was fortunate to grow up on Thai street food. One of my go-to favorites was grilled pineapple on a stick that was rolled in brown sugar/spices and then hot pepper flakes. Perfect on a cool evening. Then mangos and sticky rice...

In appreciation of your effortbto promote regional products i will check them out and order a bottle.

I don't see myself trying anything with pineapple. Not much of a fruit lover.

A former colleague of mine saw the bottle of 357 on my Facebook page. He said 'i only know tabasco and i want to give this a try. Where can i get it?'

:Do_O

That's not going to end well. Then again he has always been the guy who skips anything intermediate so i am pretty sure he will pour 357 on his food like it is tabasco

This one comes with 2 layers. First it's hot but slso has flavor. And then it takes a bit of time before the reapers come through and there is a mouth scalding heat that sticks.

I put it in my sauces, soups, etc. Also because i don't have many others left. It's impossible to use as condiment on eggs or so.

I just ordered a bunch more. 7 different ones, ranging from very hot to extreme. And 3 bottles of cholula because when it comes to breakfast, nothing beats cholula on eggs even though it isn't really hot.

Yeah, that's a go-to here for breakfast for sure. The one that is giving it a run for the money chez nous right now is the blueberry habanero from Heartbeat. It's also mild, but with tons of flavour. Great stuff.

EDIT: forgot to ask: what happened with your friend and the 357?
