I feel it's been awhile since I made any contribution to the forum so here goes. Just been making things that interest me in the shop (as opposed to things to sell). A few fire steels.

That rush light holder is absolutely stunning! I also love the fact that the counterweight is so elegant is hangs from a hook I can only describe as 'dainty' :)

Why is it called a rush light btw? At first glance I thought it was an incense burner but there is not tray so it's probably not the same thing.

A rush is a type of pithy plant. They would dry the stalks and then soak them in fat. They were then used as a cheap substitute for candles. Most of the holders had a candle holder as the counter weight, though there are some examples that used a counter weight like mine. It seems that they weren't mass produced by any company but rather made by the local blacksmith.
