It's interesting to think how many they made before they noticed. If there was still a big collector scene it might have been valuable just because it was one of only a couple. Like how stamps with misprints can be valuable.
there used to be an event in Belgium and Netherlands called 'bookfest' where publishers dump books for 1 or 2 euro because something is wrong with them. Sometimes you wouldn't be able to see what was wrong, but other times they had a big typo right in the middle of the title. I have one science fiction book called 'Hypeion' that should have been titled 'Hyperion'. And the title was in a huge font, filling the top half of the cover.
Imagine having to explain having missed that, when your boss is dumping a container of unsaleable books
