My first knife

Anyone else wants to share their first knife?

Been a while, but I'll play along. This was an old leaf spring and "ground" on one of those little tabletop wood sanders. The handle is more oval than it looks in the photo, so it's not actually a broom handle like it looks haha.

Interesting. My first blade was also ground on a little tabletop grinder. It was one you could use as a board sander, or tabletop by clamping it upside down.

And the handle was a piece of African meranti which was used a lot for window frames in Belgium.

not my first but the earliest i know of. made from bandsaw sawmill blade. nails for rivet's and quartersawn oak for the scales.
found used and abused sitting in a junk drawer

It really is giving off frontier vibes. In westerns you sometimes see similar knives
