The bottom right one is special. Not in the senses that it's well made or expensive or so but it's the only one i have found that is not the same on all 4 edges.

I spent the entire day editing my book, working in the foreword, fixing all typesetting issues, checking every drawing, ... and then uploading to Amazon, creating a cover, and now waiting for my brother to send me a mugshot I can use on the back.

My brother spent literal hours digging through his archives for a good picture and then using image processing software to change my shirt from a regular plaid shirt to blue satin. He is both a perfectionist and has a fashion sense that isn't entirely mine. The picture is good but you'll never catch me wearing a satin shirt. And most of it is cropped away anyway.

Anyway, I spent 2 more hours setting the trim, chasing down some text in unlicensed fonts (not every font can be used for printing without royalties), then going through all 460 pages to resize images and tables that went beyond the new margins, fighting with PDF printer settings, etc.
But I got it to go through in the end and I ordered a proof copy. which should be here sometime next week.

I have some ideas to write another book but I figure if I do this again, next time I'm going to get everything print-ready during the writing phase instead of writing 400+ page first and then format everything at the end.

I may have a problem :)

So my first book is now waiting to be published. You'd think I'd take some time off from writing. But sometime during writing my first book I started another book about Windows Security, something I know quite a lot about. Yesterday I picked it up again and migrated the book to the template I ended up with for my first book, and today I started writing. It's almost 1 AM, my alarm clock goes off in about 5 hours, and I have to tear myself away from the computer because once I am writing, it's like there is a fire burning inside of me and I just HAVE to keep writing...

Then again, I seriously do not want to take this one to also take 4 years to publish. I figure if I can keep writing with the same discipline as 2025, then I'll be ready in 2 years tops :D

Another song.

"Higher than hope" by nightwish. I bought the album a long time. This last song on the album was my favorite. I never really listened to the lyrics. Yesterday I remembered the album and put it on while I was writing. And because there is some narration in the song where someone says "I don't aske why it happened to me, but why was I saved, what else can I do now?" I decided to look it up.

And I am kinda glad I did because now I understand the depth of the song and how precious and beautiful it is. But it also hit me very hard because it's about one of their fans who died of terminal cancer. And this hits double hard because it is eerily similar to how my true godfather died. And now I can't listen to this song without crying.

The chorus is
Red sun rising
Drown without inhaling
Within, the dark holds hard
Red sun rising
Curtain falling
Higher than hope, my cure lies

128 and 129

The left one goes into my rotation. It's a quality one with higher thread count and those lines are embossed or whatever the terminology is for fabric.

If it makes you feel better that would be true for the vast majority of it professionals and software developers. It is a very niche topic. Very few people today work with it outside people who maintain windows or very old codebases like office or corel draw or such things.

Top left is a find when I was doing a short hike with my wifevand her friend. She wasbin front of me and i was able to snatch it up without drawing undue attention.

The others are 132 133 134 135
The big ones are good quality and have stripes. I've swapped the bottom left one into my rotation

My mom sent me a picture of my book on display in the bookshelf of the local history society she is a board member of. She said "currently it's located under 'newest acquisitions'. After a while you'll move to 'Authors from Hamont-Achel'... for ever!..." :D

No pics today.
Tried starting seeds for the garden awhile ago and mostly failed. :oops:I'll do better next year.

I was able to get compost this year for $25 a cubic yard. My stepson hauled it for me so free delivery.

I calculated needing just over 1 yard but bought 2. Lots more soil than it initially looked like, but now the raised beds are full, sinking tree roots and dog dug holes are all filled, plus a bit extra I'll use for new strawberry planters. Did get a good workout and my first sunburn of the year while reducing the pile.

My nut trees are just starting to bud, hoping they put on substantial growth this year.

I need to mow the lawn again and then run the mobile cheesegrater to pull the moss from between the grass.

We do have a small pear tree that's budding but it's only a couple of years old. Last year we have a bunch of really tiny pears that are not yet edible. Maybe this year they'll be big enough.

2 weeks ago I had a special run.
I found 5 on a single 11 km run. I've had runs of 4 a couple of times but this is the new PR.
First I found 1, then I found 1 I didn't count because it was really just threads and scraps.
Then I found 3 near a goodwill bin where you can drop off old clothes and such.
And then I found the last one close to the end of my run.

But not only did I find 5, I also found 2 stuffies!!!

The white kitten is called 'Poet', the pink sea turtle is called 'Seraphim'.
I found them behind the goodwill bin in the sand. I showed it to my youngest and our working theory is that they got lost and scared, and then put the hankies around the bin to make me look and find them. Of course we adopted them. They're now in the care of E-ore who is the designated guardian of the littlest stuffies. E-ore belonged to the daycare she went to as a toddler and they retired when she left and they gave him to her because it was her friend. E-ore is retired and enjoys quite time with the babies and he is always calm and peaceful but if someone were to threaten the babies he would turn into the fiercest warrior that would even scare away dragons.
