Really like that this place doesn't have SOTD tread , hope it's stays that way.
Yeah, i'm a member of a shaving group on facebook (only on facebook so i can occasionally sell and buy on the garage sale group) and i'm amazed at the people who daily post a SOTD picture. How does one not have anything better to do than that?

It is one way of show casing your shave gear. Kind of like the new acquisition threads. It is simply shave gear porn, some are into shave gear pictures and others not so much. I do participate in them but not really as a SOTD. New stuff, or when I get soap samples from friends. Some of the guys are really good at artistic composition, and that ads a bit to the threads.

Show me that again!
I do SOTD pics maybe once a week. Normally when i had a great shave and its my day off. Just enjoyed the shave so much i want to play with it more. But some folks do have an eye for making a pretty picture. I just toss it on the table, stack it up and snap. SOTD.

I enjoy looking at the pics others put up for a few minutes too. But its not an everyday thing. As in, i got to see what everyone put up today.

I picked up my Japanese language studies again. I neglected it for a couple of years but now I'm using the ankidroid app to make and train flashcards, instead of using paper and notebooks that i have to schlep around

So whenever i have 10 minutes of empty time i can rehearse a bunch of kanji and it's really paying off.

Interesting. I think I should be able to lookup the kanji and figure it out.
However, keep in mind that if that is several hundred years old, it may be that those kanji are not exactly used like that anymore, and pronunciation may be anyone's guess.

Kinda like taking English class and then being presented with old-English. :)
I'll give it a go tonight.

Yesterday my oldest daughter's boyfriend came over for the first time.
They're only 13 and it's all very innocent. He, and my daughter and one other had to work together on a school project and yesterday they worked at our place.

Only he took the bicycle and my daughter and the other person took the bus, and he arrived first.
Rarely have I met anyone who was 'that' nervous. :D
I shook his hand, and if he could have dissolved in thin air, I think he would have.

But he was a friendly and soft spoken kid who seemed decent so I didn't give him a hard time. We talked a bit about rugby which he plays. He is a tiny kid who plays on the sides of the field.
In the evening, my daughter told me that he was indeed incredibly nervous to begin with and arriving first didn't help.

Lol, did you bring up the topic of his first shave, and how it should be a straight razor. gotta get them before Gillette :p
you should give him a bit of a hard time next time you see him just for fun "relax , I won't hurt you.... yet"

No i don't give him a hard time.
He seems like a good kid. If i hassle the timid kid because he is my daughters boyfriend, then the ones who will stick around will be the ones who don't give a crap.

I much rather have the polite and timid kids not be scared to be her boyfriend. And i much rather have my daughters trust me so that they keep talking to me.

And i don't see the fun in scaring a kid who is so nervous to begin with.
Tbh joking about hurting people is just bullying. Only 'fun' for the person doing it.
