Covid shut down our leaugues etc. and I haven't shot hardly at all in 1.5 years. They have started again.

60 arrows per game with a little warm up, so say 80 shots. 32 Lb limbs on an Olympic recurve style. I don't know or care what exactly it is at my draw length.
When people ask me things like that I many times I say somethng like 31.72 just to mess with them.

When I was at my best I shot 6 or 7 days a week and a minimum of 3 games per day with added practice. Using a much stronger bow.

So I agree I am getting old and out of practice! :D

One time when making my own stabelizer weights I was trying for 12 oz. When that didn't exactly work out I stamped the actual weight on it and it was something like 11.5472 oz.

I stamped that on it so when someone asked me what it was I has something to show them.:D

right now we're going through a record numbers Omikron wave, as I suspect the US is doing as well. Infections are through the roof, hospitalization is rising but under control, ICU and death numbers are still falling. It's also turned out to be about the most infectious thing in the world, ever, and stopping it is like trying to catch water in a sieve.

Realistically, I think this is where it's going to burn through the world and die on its own because nothing we do is going to stop it anymore.

Record testing is going to give record numbers.

I find that there are over 100 varients of the Omicron or B.1.1.529 .

Not sure how things are done in the US, but our testing strategy hasn't seriously changed recently. The positivity ratio is also very similar, indicating that the numbers are not due to more testing but more infections.

That said, yesterday one of our leading infectious disease experts shared that so far, ICU's keep emptying. Omicron has been dominant for a couple of weeks, but ICU care was exclusively Delta patients. Imo, that's finally some good news.

How much snow is there in your area Tim?
There was a couple of days of snow in Belgium last weekend, so we took the car to make a short forest hike in the snow. We nearly got our car stuck in a field trying to park, but other than that it was great to feel snow under my feet. I'd say it was between 4 and 8 inches at the most.

As I drove home from work I looked at the snow depths I would say 4 to 8 inches is what is left around here not counting the piles where it has been plowed. There are 12 foot piles in the parking lot at work. :)

With the warm weather we have had much melting.

Tomorrow depending on which weather man you watch we are going to get from 1 to 12 inches more. :D

Most of the worst seems to be going to the south and west of me but they always draw the line in the middle of our largest metro area to cover their rears.

Well been the proverbial shit show round here. End of the year brought on all sorts of covid cases. We practice fairly tight protocol at work, especially as I was expecting exactly what happened.

I had the plumber come to repair a pipe that one of my guys had thoughtfully put a screw through, right after I got done explaining to him not to do what he did. The plumber was sick turns out, sick with the vid. He and I kept distance, our interaction was brief, 2-3 minutes. I guess maybe I licked something he touched or who knows.

I have made it this entire time having far higher exposure to people visibly sick and not gotten as much as a cold.

Started feeling sick 24hrs later. Full tilt about 36hrs in. All my arthritis and bulging discs all lit off too. Assuming it has something to do with the swelling involved. Respiratory symptoms are tightness in the chest, elevated HR at rest and a general feeling of being short of breathe.

I didn’t get a fever but can’t seem to regulate my heat. Could be cold one moment then sweaty the next.

Popsicles and Sudafed are pretty clutch. The sinus swelling is what has been causing my headaches or so it would seem.

It is going through my immediate family right now. I’m positive, my son and just now my daughter tested positive. My son is about 2 days behind me with a positive test. He got much less sick than me. My daughter started showing symptoms last night.

I have had 2 shots, my son had his second on jan3, my daughter is too young to be vaccinated.

With how fast it is going through our house, save my wife (3x shots) who is still testing negative, I would imagine you’re right. We can see it in the positive test numbers too, seems to burn itself out pretty quickly.

Something like 10% of the people I come in contact with caught it this holiday season or right after, like me. With how communicable it seems to be my guess is our area will see a big slow down in infections in the next 2 weeks.

Oh man, sorry to hear it caught you.

So far we have been lucky, but the family of my wife's oldest friend are a good example of just how quickly it can spread - and in their case from people just being dumb as a bag of hammers.

Long story short, the sister and brother of our friend (who is immuno-compromised and so has been extremely careful and who had successfully dodged COVID) decided to get together with her close family over the holidays. So they had a gathering. A short while before that gathering, her brother attended some party or other. Then he found out three people at the party were sick, but did not self-isolate, get tested, or even let his own family know prior to their get together. So know Abigail, her son, her sister, her Dad, two uncles, and an aunt are all sick. Abigail is highly vulnerable, and her Dad, uncles, and aunt are all in their 70s/80s. And then after all this happened, her sister who works up in Northern Quebec in an isolated Indigenous community that had been COVID-free decided it would be a great idea not to self-isolate in Montreal, but rather go to work up north. She brought it to them. So now there's an outbreak raging through a community that has no hospital, very limited nursing care, crowded living conditions, and access to hospital via air ambulance only.

Your story shows just how communicable it is in the face of precautions. That's bad enough, then we get morons like Abigail's brother and sister, and all hell breaks loose. Personally I think those two should be facing charges of reckless endangerment or something.

Idiots.

Anyway, sorry for the rant. I hope you and your family heal up quickly.

Our region had been largely COVID free through most of this. However, as of late the numbers are crazy. We have been mostly lying low with little interactions. I have to test Monday before I go to work on Tuesday. We will see where it all goes. I’m hoping it burns out soon.

I feel like crud right now and wouldn't be suprised if it isn't omicron. I am not going to run out and stand in line for a test. All that they would do is tell me to go home and hide in my basement which is what I am doing anyway.

My case was kind of middle of the road as far as getting sick goes but I can see how the respiratory aspect of the symptoms can really make things bad quickly and without warning.
We let everyone know who we came in contact with from the time I believe I was infected to now. We have mostly met with sympathy and offers of help out.

Got the positive test results this morning so this is the second proven go around for me. The first one was prevaccine and the second is after. Arguably a little better the second time around although not by much.

Show me that again!
My best wishes to all of you who have caught it.
My family and I have been lucky so far but it's just luck.
I know the wife's son who is a complete dumb-ass (and that is me trying to be nice) is partying with friends every chance he gets. His daughter lives with us so we can be sure she gets to school, eats right, and is raised properly but she goes with him on the weekends. The wife and I should not be raising a 10 yr old girl but it's us or the Fn idiot so she is with us.

If he doesn't give "The Sickness" to us then the grandaughter will by bringing it home from school. Crossing my fingers and hoping we skate by this. We have had all 3 shots but...

I'm sorry to hear about the dumbass, but very happy you are able to be there for her. Good on ya!

Having the three shots should be helpful, but here's hoping you guys manage to avoid having to test that theory.

You're doing a good thing. Few things in the world are more important than raising children right. And the reward is that you develop a strong and healthy bond that will last a lifetime.

Thanks, guys. I just hope this mess with covid and such starts to straighten itself out as of right now it's an ugly thing for sure and the health of a lot of good people is threatened every minute.

Just heard from our leading virologist that since Omicron broke through in december, there have been 9 omicron admissions in the ICU who were vaccinated, and 1187 who were unvaccinated. So it is starting to look promising.
We may not be able to control whether we get it, but we get to control where we end up if and when it happens.
