Yes. So it's frozen, and updated in a shared inventory app. Both my parents and i can see how much of everything they have in their freezer. I use that info to check what i need to replenish, and my dad uses it as a menu to decide what he wants to eat that day. That's also why potato, meat and veg are frozen separately. He'll check the app, and then decide what he wants to eat that day. My mother only has to warm it up and no longer has to do cooking or grocery shopping for his food.
Basically this started over a year ago when my dad had surgery and lost too much weight and my mom couldn't get him back to his weight and tbh he looked frail like he was going to be on his way out. My mom is really not a good cook (she's the first to admit it). And the problem is she cannot have any spices or herbs or sugar and many other things so she can't taste what she makes. I made the christmas meal in 2023 and we froze the leftovers for dad.
That was such a big success with my father that my mother asked me if I could maybe make some more because it was doing him good. And I love cooking. Now he is eating my food literally every day, with low salt and no preservatives or additives. Several months into 2024, he was back to full health, and bragging to his 1 remaining sister how well he was taken care of
The key to all this is using an app for the inventory, and simply cooking in large quantities. Making mashed potatoes or turkey roast are things that take the same effort regardless of whether you make 3 pounds or 6 pounds. My mother sends money for his groceries every month, and I use that to buy whatever I need to keep their freezer stocked. And then at least once per month I invite them for dinner and they take everything frozen with them.
