Went kinda overboard. Before my holiday i did a lot of medl prep for my dad so i figured i waa good for a while. I checked with my mum and only the chicken soup and carrots were out fo i figured I'd cook that. But then i got into the store and the ground meat was half price . Soo...

Of course my mom likes if i make fresh tomato sauce ftom scratch so i bought 6 lbs of tomato and some bell peppers.

8 chicken soup, 7 portions of sauted carrots, 8 meatballs in tomato sauce and 6 pasta with mushrooms and meat sauce.

This is a traditional flemish delicacy known for some bizarre reason as 'smurf pie' it's often served at birthdays.

It's soft crust with a base of custard, apricot jelly, whipped cream and white chocolate shavings with powdered sugar.

It's an absolute calory bomb but it's exactly as good as you'd think it would be. :)

No, but probably vintage.
It is marked Normandy Stainless Japan. I did a bit of looking and it seems to have been made in the 70's.
My wife got them from her in-laws from her first marriage.

That style was popular here in thev70's as well. You find it in thrift stores everywhere but from time to time at antique markets you also find authentic silver but usually incomplete sets

It is an elegant pattern.
Do you use any vintage or antique kitchen items? We have a hand cranked grinder and a conical colander we use occasionally.

Yesterday I had an evening out with my wife and surprisingly the had ox tongue on the menu. It was my grandmother's favorite and i love it but it's hard to find. This was just perfection with stir fried vegetables and tater tots.

Ox tongue is the softest, most delicate meat you could ever imagine. The only reason I never make it myself is that you can only buy an entire tongue. They are quite large.

You also typically don't find it on menus anymore because the younger generation thinks it is yucky.

Yesterday my daughters best friend stayed for diner. I was making pizza and asked if she wanted a special shape like a square, triangle or heart. She wanted heart shaped pizza.

I didn't take pictures of the pre-meal nibbles. It was assorted charcuterie and carpacio of deer on toast.

Pea soup

King crab between caramelized wafers.

Deer with black pudding. The yellow is mashed potato with root vegetable and butter. Very rich we had a small bowl of it next to our plate. The white is salsify in bechamel. And andive of course. It's some type of pepper sauce and red wine sauce.

With the mash being so rich we were pretty much done for and skipped on the desert. Instead we had coffee and a cognac.

Ribollita, Tuscan Bread Soup.

Made with mustard greens and cranberry beans.
Not bad but I'll tweak the recipe a bit. More tomato and possibly a different green.
