I have been doodling this design for a while. I thought it would work best as a scrimshaw. This is the start of it. I still have some details to do and of course the other scale.

It has nothing to do with razors, but I recently did a little scrimshaw on an 8x8 box lid.

I don't have the skill for scrimshaw, but even if I did, I don't have the patience.

It is just dots and lines, however it is very time consuming.

This is a set of bone scales I did for a friend, with a compass rose or nautical star scrimshawed on it.
Really tiny stuff is difficult to draw.

It would seem some images lend themselves to scrimshaw. That one does!
I have studied scrimshaw a bit and found it is a purely American-created art form.
I also learned that YOU, Rez, are a 'scrimshander'!

I’m not sure I would say purely as it delevoped on the eastern seaboard whaling ships way back when, but we can settle for a tradition of North American sailors on whaling ships. There are some crazy scrimshanders out there. Near photographic quality of work. On the scrimshanders scale I am still fairly novice, but I am having fun and that is the main part. All those dots are pretty zen like.
