To complete Bruno's dream we need a place to rest so I am making one.

Last night it got down to 57'f here and with the window open I needed to grab a bit of the blanket.

Sorry if I snore.............

It used to be that my wife stole the blankets.
But because of her bad hips and circumstances, her side of the bed is
  1. a series of slats on hydraulic pistons that align themselves based on pressure
  2. a soft foam mattress on top of that
  3. a hard foam mattress
  4. a half-thickness soft mattress
  5. a half-thickness memory foam top
So half of her body is ensconced in perfect thermal insulation. She uses less blanket than me because my side of the bed is just the slats and the soft foam. Her side of the bed is a full 8 inches taller than mine.

Wish I could stop waking up in the early morning(I mean before my alarm goes off). Always around 3 o'clock it seems. Lay there anxiously waiting to fall back to sleep before I have to get up. I think if I could keep my mind from thinking and wondering around it would help.

Get up and drill some more holes in bowling balls. You could get something done and not make to much noise for others.

I used to have that. Took me years to figure it out but I used to drink earl grey tea and for some reason, the bergamot oil causes a very shallow sleep. I switched to Lady Grey tea which is the same, but with orange zest instead of bergamot.

Back when the razor business was thriving and I had a long waiting list, I used to grind at night. I could spend hours of grinding post heat treatment, and noone would notice. But I couldn't pin razors because even gently tapping would carry through the entire house.

Funny how little noises can wake us up. The city bus's run down my street. I like that they do and am not complaining!

I have been going to bed earlier and very seldom use my alarm. But then about 04:50 to 05:00 I wake up. I am thinking that it may be the bus going by. I may have to get up earlier to prove it.....

I know as I am putting my boots on just before 06:00 one bus goes one way and then the other goes the other way.

That signals it is time to leave for work.

It works the other way too. Back when we started living together, we rented an apartment close to the railroad. At night, sometimes there were trains from a steel mill that powered through with thousands of tons of steel at 50 mph. The effect was like an earthquake wave hitting. Initially we used to wake up because it was loud as hell and you could feel the vibrations rumbling to a crescendo.

But after a while, we didn't even notice anymore.

My house now is 2 blocks from the tracks and I notice and or ignore the trains. Unless it is an emergency they cannot blow their whistles and I miss that. And if I do hear it I wonder what kind of kid or idiot is in the middle of the tracks and hope they don't get hit. My first house was in a triangle shaped block with the tracks on 2 sides. My grandfather bought becaouse he worked for the railroad and could walk to work from there to the yards on either side. :) One side was high speed and that usually was relatively quiet. The other was the one between the yards. They had to stop and restart to take turns. That could be loud with a long train with many engines!

The house was a little 1 1/2 story shotgun shack that had one big bedroom upstairs. Every year a cousin would come to town to visit/business. The roof slanted over the beds in the upstairs. The trains would come by and he would jump up and bang his head. He would wake everyone else up and they would laugh because they "didn't" hear it.
