It was freezing and snowing but I'm on the timeframe with this one. This last stage required more patience because you can't ridk splitting the billet because in this stage that's unrecoverable

You have a great start.

I will have to get the camera out and take a few pics of these scales. They have a bad warp and the wedge is larger than the scales. Or at least less shrunken. Should I try to save the older ones or just make new? Nothing special about them to try to save.......

It might be an idea to save them for another project. Unless there is something special about the the scales and razor, like original to a particularly special razor, it’s easier to make new ones. Easy for me to say, I haven’t been in the shop for a long time. Soon I hope.

You have a good point.

But if I am going to experiment with them why not now?

They are not special so if I mess them up it is not terrible or the end of the world. A good time to practice.

In my totally biased opinion, saving thing for another project often means they never get used at all. At least in my own experience. I have some materials I'm not using because I want to have a paying customer for them before doing anything (like my remaining Pendray steel) that is different because there is a monetary consideration.

The materials I have bought for pet projects, I'm really starting to make plans for because I've found that if I don't, they'll probably still be sitting there when I die.

finished a custom case for my son's Leatherman multi-tool. It was one I found when going through my Fathers things after he passed away. It was a Christmas gift to him from me one Christmas. It is a little warn from use but it the one my son wanted.

It looks great. I try to avoid leather cases as it is unlikely that they will stand up to what I put my knives through. Most sheaths are worn on the outside of my gear at work. I think you did a great job on the stitching and the detail around the flap.

Better warn her to be careful! I'm pretty happy with my Xarilk Pro knife sharpener. It does have some limitations but I have nothing to compare it to and it was in my budget. Let us know how you like your Tomek.

Unfortunately the last 3 weeks the only time I've been in the shop is the other side of it trying to get that stupid light off in the car..... ignorant design of a useless system....

Problem with that is I'm in the peoples republic of New York. They plug into the car for inspection.
Body panels can be falling off or missing, there can be huge gaping holes with ragged edges all over, you can be looking at the road through the floorboard.... but let the car have a useless operation that only activates during a cold start for a minute and is off the entire rest of the time the car is running be POINT 2kpa high in pressure and turn that f#$@g light on.......

We used to have an inspection in Minnesota but they stopped the program! Believe it or not they stopped it!!!! I can hardly believe the government stops any program. LOL The best reason I heard is that if your car starts and runs under 0'F it is going to pass.

The one thing that I liked about the program is that the person that failed you had nothing to gain by making repairs. I knew a girl from New Jerssey that said the garages that repaired you had to pass it. Thet was a while ago..........

I have been playing a little bit at a time with the t-4 but I have been told to get it off the kitchen table.....

I will have to put it under it on the floor.

Is taking up the dining room table with her felting different?

The joys of being married 35 years or so. { I would have to check the records for an exact length.}

If we haven't gotten rid of each other by this time something must be right. :D

I keep looking at the T-8.
‘My wife and I have ironed out our occupied spaces, looking at 30 years together so far.
‘The only time you have to get a vehicle inspected here is when it comes in from out of province, unless it is brand new,nif you are the second owner, it needs to be inspected once, regardless of age or mileage.

In Virginia ( and some other states ) vehicle inspection is done yearly. Ohio doesn't have any.

Forged a paper cup handle yesterday to replace the one I've been using for years. It was lost or stolen and I missed it. I'll post some pictures when I get a paper cup to model it with.

Yeah guys, pictures!! :)

This week I finished this. Stabilized deer antler, mammoth molar, and damascus. This was for a sales rep who has become a friend over the years. He asked if I could make a knife for his brother's 50th birthday. I usually don't accept deadline commissions but decided to make an exception. And because I wanted to make something special I went above and beyond what we agreed, including a felt lined leather presentation box.

That's beautiful! Nice job, he should be very happy. (My 60th is coming up in a couple years so you should have plenty of time :) ) Love that damascus pattern, is that some you made?
