Thanks. I've been wanting to fo this for a while now and bought the kit a long time ago. I didn't get around to it but now i have a customer who wanted one but didn't have a ton of money so we came to the agreement i would finish the kit with a wootz blade so it wouldn't be entirely my knife but he'd still have a wootz pocket knife as a gift for his father.

It would be good to have an extra type of knife in my portfolio and everyone likes pocket knives.

I hope that the kit does justice to your blade!

I have taken a few factory knifes and redid the scales. I have stuck to quality factory knifes to begin with.

My favorite was a Buck knife I forget the model at the moment but it was a small multi blade folder that I did in Lapus lazuli and sterling silver. Did I spell lapus lazuli right??? LOL

She lost it within 2 months..... :(

What color of wood would accentuate the wootz better? I would lean towards a darker color.

But the again I don't have any experience.........

As you move forward consider different kinds of blade locks (liner locks for example) I really like a pocket knife with a pocket clip too. I know this is your first one and it was a kit but I am looking forward to seeing your progress as you evolve as a folding knife craftsman!

One thing i found out the hard way: this is a different process and i have zero muscle memory or workflow getting that spring under tension and thrn getting the back pin in requires a custom tool that i didn't have so i half assed it with my vise and a 1/8 piece of round rod. It jumped on me a couple of times and as i was getting frustrated i lost track of the sharp bit and hit my knuckle into the edge while reaching.

Bled like a pig but thankfully it was not through and through. Didn't see bone. And to pile stupid on stupid i wrapped shop tissue around it to keep it from dripping and i finished pinning. After 3 more false tries.
