the headwaters leather guild has a monthly challenge. this month it is a keychain. i need the practice beveling.

That's challenging I think. My grandmother had one of those and if I remember correctly, these are supposed to have little to no stretch. Do they have like a steel cable core or something like that?

i can find how to make them out of plastic tubing or cloth but not out of leather. They do not have a cable in them. after a short time you shorten them after they stretch. and remove them if being stored or not used. i started with a lace 3/8" x1/8" x approximately 7' it is now over 8'. next time i will measure exact length.

interesting, do you dampen the leather and then pull it through gradually smaller holes till it is round?
