9/8 razor in san mai damascus

A new 9/8 quarter hollow razor in Neon Green G10 scales. This is a san mai blade, with a hitachi white paper steel core. The sides of the san mai are damascus in which more white paper steel layers are used. This gives the impression not of a typical san mai, but more of a body that is made from pieces of damascus that were 'dissolved' in monosteel.

I had creative liberty to do anything I wanted as long as it was a san mai with white paper steel core. I decided to go go off the beaten path and I am happy with the result.

I really like the combination of the larger unpatterned areas.

Does that make sense?

absolutely. It's not a challenge or very interesting just to make a large number of layers. It's much more interesting to have areas with low or no patterning intertwined with high layer count.

It is a very interesting pattern. I would say your creativity paid off big on this one. Not all great ideas get to be great creations.

At Charlie's i spent 2 days with a complex plan in my head. 2 days of cutting, twisting and stacking. And at the very end i hammer it flat in the wrong direction.
